Cizhong

The Tibetan village of Cizhong situated on a narrow plain on the banks of the river was surrounded by rice paddies collectively four or five times the size of the village itself. The only place to build the homes to accommodate Yanmen’s relocated villages was unfortunately on top of Cizhong’s communal rice paddies. Cizhong is also unique in the fact that 80 percent of the village’s 115 households are members of the local 19th century Catholic Church. We spent the night and shared dinner with a lovely local family. Filling up with breakfast and many cups of Tibetan butter tea before again setting off. You can view Cizhong’s location here
