Cizhong to Jinghong

The Wunonglong and Lidi Dams near the Tibetan border. On the last leg of our journey, we were discussing the idea of my returning to China the following year to visit other attractions in Yunnan, plus the idea of following route 31 alongside the river all the way to the Laos border. Mr. Mu agreed and thought it would be very interesting and suggested we could stay with different ethnic families. He was also very excited as a New Zealand couple who had used his guide services many times were to fly himself, his wife, and his son to New Zealand. They had made plans to drive throughout the length of the country. As a keen mountaineer, New Zealand had always been of great interest to him. It was now December of 2019 and within a month both of our plans plus that of many others were to be put on hold.
